for honour, for glory, for muzak.

am i the only one who finds it strange when a work music policy bans "Sound of Silence" for being "dangerously subversive," Muse and Foo Fighters as a whole for being "too obscene," then allows bad techno that is just robot voices screaming "fuck me" for five minutes in varying speed, or "turn back time" which, and this might be unique to aspie brain, but seems to translate to "now that you've wised up and left my abusive ass i've realized i should've treated you like a human being with thoughts dreams and emotions and not a twat at my beck and call, i know there's no way for me to ever make up for what i've done, so will you please pretend it never happened so we can start all over again? I promise that your resumption of the doormattish tendencies i've exploited for so long will not lead me to regress into the behaviour you've come to hate me for." it's dressed up in pretty hyperbole, but THAT is an offensive damned song!

....want to be able to hear some music at work that doesn't make me want to hurt people.....

Ow, I'm getting a headache just reading about this.

I suppose one way to start is to actually file a complaint, say that the aforementioned 'fuck you' techno is equally offensive.

Not familiar with "Turn back time," but from what I understand, those themes are somewhat common in songs and what-not. How many songs, when you listen to the music, are really about stalkers?

"Dangerously subversive?" Okay, where the hell are you working, a school? Government body?

Either way, yes, it does seem strange from my perspective. I seem to have been lucky in having a taste for classic rock, as most places I end up working have that playing all the time.

Another great reason to be working for myself!

I like music of all kinds WAY to much to have it distilled down and censured by some @$$hat without enough sense to understand the music they are listening to.....

Well, I can't say much about work music because I no longer work. -starts looking for a new job-

Although to commiserate, there was a time when I was at Domino's that all we ever listened to was that song "It's getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes" ...

"The song's over."
"Let's play it again!"
"Yeah!"

Dangerously subversive.
Heh.
Mario brothers was loved everywhere, and they showed mushroom use. Sonic the hedgehog has some blue weirdo stealing rings. Warner Bros. characters were used for war propaganda. Yet this is subversive O.o
:iconkite-san:
yeah. and they approve some song that involves screaming "i wouldn't be caught dead in this place" .....real smart marketing thar.
:iconkite-san:
agh agh agh. if it was that one on endless repeat, i'd deliver a writ of "Axey MacFireaxe demands a change of soundtrack"
:iconkite-san:
agreed wholeheartedly. sadly, cannot agree wholewalletedly.
:iconkite-san:
retail establishment, actually -_- and yeah, i don't get it either.

Frankly I've never understood how people can listen to music without actually hearing what is being said in the lyrics. Sure they (usually) hear the words, but they rarely listen to the meaning. :|
