fear the microbial bacon legions

Tue May 26, 2009, 12:59 AM
hi everyone.

just back from doctor. doc thinks i has swine flu. they've sent pathology off. what's hilarious is he said that "if i was running a fever" with the other symptoms they'd assume it was swine flu and be pumping me full of anti-virals and tammyflu and whatnot. the thermometer said 37.5 which is within margin of error of normal, for most people.

fuggin doctors never BELIEVE me when i've said, for over a decade, that when i'm feeling well, i tend to run a degree to two degrees below normal.

har dee har.

don worry too much, tho. the microbial piggy legions may have breached the gates, but they shall be defeated! or something. i probably don't make too much sense right now. i blame bacon flu.

sometimes it does. a lot of people apparently answer 'no' the first time because they don't realize it's relevant, and want to hide it.
:iconkite-san:
have thankfully managed it. stupid microbial bacon legions, at least i has antibodies now.

I suppose so.

By the way, I went to the doctors twice and the first time was misdiagnosed as "allergies." My primary doctor seemed to just ignore me when I told her I felt "sick" at the beginning of this and that I don't have allergies at all. She gave me this nasal spray crap that listed symptoms worse than what I actually had so I refused to take it. I then went to my dad's doctor and he checked me out and said I had viral infection in my respiratory tract and the only thing I can do for it is take ibuprofen to combat the throat swelling and if the cough persists, to take musinex or whatever that stuff is that's supposed to clear out your lungs of mucus.

Well, I'm almost 100% better now. I still have a very slight cough but that'll go away soon enough I'm sure. I'm not feeling so comfortable with my primary doctor anymore though.

Anyway, I hope you're feeling better :D I don't think you'd be quite as awesome as bacon-san as you are as kite-san :D lol

*nods* that's another one, is that if it's clearly a virus they prescribe something, anything, that doesn't have bad false-positive effects because the psychological 'i'm taking something to fix the problem' is frequently all that can be offered with virals.

i'd rather they were just honest, too.

thing is, the placebo they handed was something that could have caused me great discomfort or could have complicated my condition. I wasn't coming in complaining about the sniffles, I was coming in with a constantly swollen throat and I wanted to take something to ease the inflammation so I could breathe. The fact that I was given something for a completely unrelated area brings serious doubts into my mind over the competence of my doctor.

That and the fact that she brushed off my complaints that I have had over my heart over the last several months pissed me off as well. It took a long time and requesting a specialist before someone actually explained to me what was going on and that I actually am in normal health.

Frustrating is an understatement...
